One of the most fun and time-consuming projects I've done at BCIT would be this digital painting. For this assignment we were to reference a non-doctored photo and in Photoshop, paint a replica in black & white. One of my favourite performers is South-Korean artist GDragon, and decided to use him as my reference model. When I found the photo, I knew it would be a challenge, but the final piece would be amazing (if it turned out alright).
I started this painting by first outlining the main edges and most prominent parts of the reference photo. This helped me figure out where I'm painting and visualize how it will look. After the outlines, I began the painting process.
I am very happy with how this project turned out and the time put in was definitely worth it. Although there are minor differences, I believe I accomplished my goal of realism.
